Welcome to Oak Harbor

Where Are We?

We are a small city on the northern end of Whidbey Island. You can get on the island one of two ways:

- Deception Pass Bridge (from the north)
- Mukilteo/Clinton Ferry (from the south)

Bus/Truck Route (from the north)
While going south on WA 20, turn east/right on Ault Field Road (you will see the NAS Whidbey Jet Static Display).

Drive past Navy Base. Exit the roundabout at the second exit and proceed south on Heller Road. Turn Left on NW 2nd Ave.

Buses: Take the 4th and final entrance into the school, turn into the bus lane in front of school and unload at the end of the lane, by the cafeteria.

Bus parking is on the west side, by the stadium.

Cars: Please obey one-way and handicapped signs. Parking in STAFF-labeled parking is okay.

Harps and Basses, consider parking and unloading in the far northeast corner of the school. Suggested, but not required.

What to Expect

Weather forecast for Saturday, Feb 3rd is partly cloudy skies and wind. Here in Oak Harbor, forecasts can change hourly so we don't hold too tightly to them. We do get a good amount of wind though. Whether it will be a light breeze or one that may carry you away... well, you will have to wait until you get here to find out for sure. No matter what, we have some amazing views and if you are arriving early and/or leaving late, you might want to bring your camera to catch the sunrise or sunset.

Once inside the school, we will have some tables with local info in case you need to grab something or maybe have time to check out the area and/or come back in the future. We will also have concessions available.

A Little About Oak Harbor

Oak Harbor was so named because of the Garry Oak trees in the region. It is the largest incorporated city of Whidbey Island. The Deception Pass Bridge was established on July 31, 1935, and the Naval Air Station Whidbey Island was built on September 21, 1942. Oak Harbor was originally settled in the early 1850s. Martin Tafton, C.W. Sumner, and Ulrich Freund were the first settlers of the city. The first high school of the city was built in 1906.
